All pumps are not equal! Our engineers tested over 15 pumps during the development of this project and found almost all small submersible pumps on the market are grossly overrated. This can greatly affect your temperature control as flow rate is directly proportional to cooling efficiency.

To use:

  1. Simply plug our pump into our temp controller
  2. Connect your insulated lines to your temp control coil and to the pump outlet
  3. Submerse the pump in your cooler (with ice), fridge with cold water reservoir or glycol chiller
  4. Start cooling your wort!

Specs:
-High flow submersible pump
-3/8" barbed outlet (connect directly to our insulated tubing)
-12v DC powered (much safer than AC submersible pumps)
-Suction cups to keep pump submerged

Nice little pump!

Exactly as expected/needed for a cooling loop in a tap wall. Plenty of flow from glycol tank to tap height.

Overall the pump is good I do like it. I decided to upgrade from a bucket of ice water and a fish pond pump to the penguin glycol chiller and the spike pump because it is smaller than my current fish pond pump to fit inside the glycol chiller. Couldn't find any specs on the pump as far as flow rate or pump head. Something to take in consideration if you have a long run from the chiller to your fermenter. But the performance is good for my set up, my pump sits about 3 ft below the top of my conical fermenter and the run is about 6ft and it is able to keep a decent flow rate to keep my beer cold during cold crashing and carbonation. My only complaint is with the plug portion of the pump. I am using a Inkbird ITC-308 controller from my previous set up instead of the spike controller and the plug from the pump and heating pad do not fit in the controller together at the same time. During spring and fall, my garage get warm during the day but it gets cold at night. I didn't see an option to just buy the spike controller separately thinking that the spacing in the receptacle portion of the plug may be more spaced out. Also didn't think it would be a problem since the fish pond pump and heating pad were able to be plugged in at the same time. The plug is much wider than a normal 115V plug.

Works as advertised. It’s a little noisier than I thought it would be, but i don’t mind it all they much. Good product.
