Maryland Homebrew

Since 1992, Maryland Homebrew has been serving homebrewers in the DC and Baltimore areas. Chris Anderson joined the team in 2000 and eventually purchased the store in 2017.

What has motivated Chris for almost 3 decades in the homebrewing business? “The community is an awesome one! I love seeing what people come up with and hanging at club events. Such great food and beer!”

Maryland Homebrew is certainly one of the larger homebrew stores in the country. Located in a 6700 square foot warehouse, they have different rooms for beer, wine and cheese, and offer products to make yogurt and fermented veggies too. What also makes them unique? Chris points out that “besides being woman-owned, we also offer military and AHA discounts with free shipping on most items”.

It’s not simply volume that makes MDHB a great store. Chris adds that “customer service is our #1 priority and we have a very helpful staff. You should feel at home here.”

Maryland Homebrew and Spike

Maryland Homebrew was one of Spike’s first retail partners. They chose to work with Spike because they like the sturdiness of the products, the quality of the welds, and the wide array of accessories. Also, working with Spike’s “great customer service team” has been a big plus to them.

Advice

Chris’ advice for homebrews, new and experienced: “Everyone knows to sanitize as well as to relax and have a homebrew. Brew for you and what you enjoy drinking even if it doesn’t follow into a style guideline”.
